International Scholarship Program By Aga Khan Foundation 2015

The application cycle has started for this year 2015, and Applicants can get the application form from the Aga Khan foundation. Every year, Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of the scholarship for the talented students to those developing countries who have not enough sources to make the to develop effective scholars and leaders. These scholarships will be awarded on the basis of 50% grant: 50% loan through the process of competitive application procedure in June or July once in a year. It will be more preferable for the foundation that they will more consider those Master level, but it can notice the PhD scholarship only those students who are extraordinarily talented and highly recommended for doctoral studies. For short courses, the application will not be considered, instead those students who have started their course.  

Eligibility Criteria: 
Geographic Scope 
The Foundation accepts the application of students who belongs to  these following countries Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and Mozambique. But in other countries, like France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada, there application are accepted for those students who are basically from one of the developing countries and have very limited sources and are interested in development-related studies. 
Residency Requirement 
Students who are living in those countries whose names have mentioned above where, can apply for this scholarship where there are local Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), Aga Khan Education Services (AKES), or Aga Khan Education Board (AKEB) offices. These offices will further entertain and will take the interviews of the students.  
Age Limit 
Applicant must be less than 30 years of age. 
 
Selection Criteria: 

  1. Excellent academic record 
  2. Genuine reason to get financial help 
  3. Admission to a highly reputable university or program of study 
  4. Relevance to the field of study in AKDN’s focus areas 
  5. Candidates will also be evaluated on their internal potential in other extracurricular interests, potential in their future plans and likelihood to succeed in a foreign academic environment. 

Financial Assistance: 
 
By this scholarship, they just provide bear the expenses of living and tuition fee but not the Transportation's. PhD students will be awarding by this scholarship within two years of education after that students have to manage their own way to continue. Applicants are requested to make every effort to obtain funding from other sources as well, so the foundation will give you the minimum amount of scholarship. . Preference is given to those who have been able to secure some funding from alternative sources. 
 
 Loan Conditions: 
 

It is important to note that the half of the amount of the scholarship, which they will offer, is as the loan and that will be reimbursed with an annual year of 5% as charge. Applicants have to co-sign the loan agreement. The payback period is five years, starting six months after the study period funded by the Aga Khan Foundation.  
 
How to Apply: 
 
Candidates may get application forms as of January 1st each year from AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services / Boards in their countries of current residence. Those applications who will become complete should be returned to the agencies from where they obtained the form. They should not be sent to this form to Geneva. 
 
Application Deadline: 
 
Overall the last date of submission of the application is 31, March 2015 but it may differ in different countries. The Applicant should even connect to the local area offices to confirm the last date of submission. Moreover, application after the last date will not be entertained. So be careful.

Note: The Applicant should be prepared for the interview by the local scholarship committee about the internet, future planning and academic record. Then they will send the interview record of the shortlisted students to the Geneva. Annual meeting of scholarship selection will take place in late of the June and July and then this foundation will notify all the selected students after all this process.
